Dated business events from California public records
Three feeds of public filings, cut by geography and emailed on a schedule with the CSV attached. Every row is a business record. We drop rows where the business name looks like a person, unless CSLB lists the license as a corporation or an LLC, or ABC lists a trading name that differs from the owner's name. We blank email addresses and phone numbers in every column except the business phone column, and check the policy number column for email addresses only. We blank a law firm entry that reads as a person, but a firm named for a lawyer keeps the lawyer's name.
PAGA notices
PAGA notices filed with the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency that name an employer with a California address, in every county. What the LWDA posts during the day is in that evening's email, Monday to Friday, and the Monday email also carries anything posted over the weekend. Each row is an employer named in a new notice: the filing date, the case and LWDA numbers, the employer, its city, county and ZIP, the number of employees the notice states, the filing law firm, and the submission type. About 29 notices with a California employer address reach the file on a normal weekday.
The LWDA posts notices every weekday. We pull them at the end of the Californian working day and the email goes out that evening, Monday to Friday, or once a week on Mondays if you prefer. Contractor workers' comp renewals
California contractor licenses whose workers' compensation policy expires in the next ninety days, cut by county and sent weekly. Each row carries the license number, the business name and address, the phone number on file, the trade classifications, the carrier, the policy number and the expiration date. Rows that entered the 90-day window this week are marked. Sole owners are not in the file. Ninety days rather than sixty because an incumbent broker has usually sent renewal terms by sixty days out, and a file read then is read too late to do anything with.
We download CSLB's classification lists once a month. We cut them by county and send the next 90 days of expirations every Monday. One county, or California statewide. ABC license applications
New alcohol license applications filed with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, cut by county and sent weekly. Each row carries the report date, the license type and what ABC calls it, whether it is one of the four on-sale types the file marks, the action code, the applicant business, the premises address, the city, the county, the ZIP and the status.
ABC publishes a report on business days and on some weekends; we read each one the next morning and send the week on Mondays. One county. Weekly. $39 a month per county. Source: California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, new applications report. See a preview and the sample file.

How it works

- We drop rows where the business name looks like a person, unless CSLB lists the license as a corporation or an LLC, or ABC lists a trading name that differs from the owner's name. We blank email addresses and phone numbers in every column except the business phone column, and check the policy number column for email addresses only. We blank a law firm entry that reads as a person, but a firm named for a lawyer keeps the lawyer's name. Sole owner licenses are dropped before the file is built. The PAGA source's plaintiff name and attorney name fields are not stored.
- The email carries the rows for the period, the CSV as an attachment, and a download link that works for fourteen days.
- Cancel any time. The confirmation page after checkout opens the billing portal, and every delivery email carries an unsubscribe link and a line saying to reply and we will cancel it.
