ABC license application counts by month, county and type
The Public Record Feeds ABC dataset holds 1,794 applications on the California ABC daily new applications reports dated 6 July 2026 to 25 September 2026, counted before the privacy filter, and 853 of them are for license types 41, 42, 47 and 48, four of ABC's on-sale license types.
Last updated 29 September 2026. The numbers are rebuilt every Monday.
What this counts
Applications on the California ABC daily new applications report, from the report dated 6 July 2026 to the report dated 25 September 2026. They are applications filed, not licenses issued. The on-sale figure counts four of ABC's on-sale license types: 41, 42, 47 and 48. Applications for its other on-sale types are counted as applications and not as on-sale. The file a subscriber receives is one county's share of one week of these reports. It leaves out any application listed under its primary owner's name, because it has no trading name or its trading name is the owner's name, when that name reads as a person's name or as the names of two or more people.

Where the numbers come from
Source: California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, new applications report. ABC publishes the report for the whole state on business days and on some weekends. Its page shows one report date at a time, picked with a date picker, with a box that filters the rows as you type and buttons that download that date's report as a CSV file or as a PDF print view. The report has no county filter and no on-sale mark: it gives each application's license type as a code, without a description, and its county as a two digit code, in a column the page hides and the CSV download includes. The descriptions in the license type table above are the ones ABC publishes on its list of license types. ABC's site-wide header has a Subscribe link, which signs you up for ABC's news and announcement emails.
The file
This page is built from abc_stats.json, so the file holds the same numbers and is updated at the same time. Each series in it carries a label saying what it counts.
For the applications themselves, see the weekly file for one county. It is a different set from these counts. Each Monday's file holds one county's applications from the week of reports before that Monday, and it leaves out any application listed under its primary owner's name, because it has no trading name or its trading name is the owner's name, when that name reads as a person's name or as the names of two or more people.
